Kentucky-born singer, songwriter, and producer Chris Stapleton is an American country and bluegrass musician. As a songwriter, over 150 of Stapleton’s songs have appeared on albums by such artists as Adele, Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley, to name a few. He released his debut studio album Traveller in 2015, which earned him several awards from the Country Music Association: Best Male Vocalist, New Artist of the Year, and Album of the Year. At the 2016 Grammy Awards, Stapleton added Best Country Album and Best Country Solo Performance to his accolades. The album has sold over one million copies domestically, and reached number one on the U.S. Billboard 200.
In 2016, Stapleton toured with an original design by Mikey Cummings, which was operated by Roger Gant. Stapleton’s lighting design presented an authentic look to match an authentic sound. A richness of color and classically retro fixtures created a honky tonk vibe fitting the music and its message. Subtlety and ambiance were key components to this lighting design, which embraced a family-like collective of singers in appreciation of the craft.
