Paul Hoffman

Paul got started in lighting earlier than most. As a kid, he would build rudimentary light shows with Christmas flashers and landscape bulbs in his bedroom. While living in England, he appeared on local TV at 13 years old to demonstrate a computerized lighting sequencer that he designed and built. After launching a successful IT business during the tech boom of the ‘90s, he came full circle, pivoting back to lighting starting with The Dead in 2004.  Thanks to his passion and know-how, he soon was handling lights for several other bands and events including Olympic Swimming Trials, World Figure Skating Championships, Rebelution, Congressional Blues Festival and Superbowl XLI. Paul has recently lit tribute shows in honor of such artists as Dr. John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Emmylou Harris, Mavis Staples, The Neville Brothers and Jerry Garcia.  Permanent installation design credits include The Hamilton in Washington, D.C., historic White Eagle Hall, The Hive and Crop Rocks in Cleveland, OH.  Paul currently serves as Lighting Designer/Director for Widespread Panic, as well as technical director for all Pulse Lighting events.
